Alien Deathstorm Brings Brutal Sci-Fi Survival To Xbox Platforms
If you enjoy battling monsters in deep space, a terrifying new shooter is heading your way. During the recent Xbox Partner Preview broadcast, the developer behind Sniper Elite revealed its next major project. Rebellion announced Alien Deathstorm, a brand new first-person action horror game set to launch in 2027. It will hit Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC, while also launching day one on Xbox Game Pass.
The gameplay is about fighting for survival on a ruined off-world colony
Alien Deathstorm strands players on a remote planet that recently went completely silent. You play as a combat engineer acting as a highly trained first responder. Your mission is to arrive weeks ahead of the main rescue fleet, figure out what happened to the communications network, and save any remaining survivors. Unfortunately, the colony is actively being destroyed by a massive atmospheric event known as a deathstorm.
This planet-wide hurricane forces you to constantly look for shelter while navigating ruined buildings. To make matters worse, the facility is completely overrun by bloodthirsty aliens. Rebellion stated it took heavy inspiration from 1980s science fiction movies to give the game a chunky, mechanical feel rather than a sleek modern look.
It blends fast-paced shooting with tense exploration
The gameplay is built as a hybrid experience that mixes survival horror with fast shooting. You will spend plenty of time carefully exploring dark corridors and gathering resources. However, when the monsters finally attack, the game turns into a heavy ballistic shooter. The development studio wants players to feel powerful but never completely safe. You have the tools to fight back, but the constant threat of the storm and hiding enemies means you always need to stay alert.
Rebellion is keeping exact gameplay mechanics related to the weather a secret for now. It plans to share more details about how the storms affect combat as the 2027 launch gets closer. For now, anyone looking for a fresh space horror adventure has a major title to keep on their radar.
There are also a bunch of other game announcements from Microsoft, including the Vaunted strategy game, The Expanse Osiris Reborn’s gameplay, and Super Meat Boy 3D’s release date.
