Gears of War: E-Day Gets Fixes for Drone-Snub Error Code, Third-Party Controller Support & More Before Open Beta Weekend 2
Gears of War: E-Day is heading into its second beta weekend with a big list of fixes. The Coalition has addressed several problems reported during the opening weekend.
Previously, The Coalition detailed several E-Day-related issues and shared workarounds for multiple reported errors. The earlier advisory also highlighted the importance of updated Windows and graphics drivers. Here’s what has been fixed in Gears of War: E-Day.
Drone-Snub gets a new network requirement
The Coalition has implemented new mitigations for Drone-Snub error code. More importantly, the beta’s required port has changed from UDP 443 to UDP 3074. Players still experiencing the error should check that the required network ports are open. Xbox has provided a dedicated guide covering its network port requirements. The update also fixes connection timeouts. That could help players who struggled to get into matches during the first weekend.
Multiplayer and controller problems get attention
Hit detection delays in Horde Siege have been improved. Matchmaking also receives further changes for Versus Social and Ranked. Third-party controller detection on Steam has been improved. Microsoft account linking problems have also received fixes.
In addition, the Prototype Lancer gets a balance adjustment, with increased base damage and reduced perfect-reload damage. Anti-cheat protection has also been strengthened. The Coalition says enforcement action has been taken against verified cheaters
In addition, the beta update also improves stability across platforms. Xbox Series S receives additional work aimed at reducing hitching.
PC players have another important warning
The Coalition says SSD storage is required on PC. HDD installations can cause severe loading problems, missing assets, stuttering, and crashes. Players should also update their graphics drivers before launching the second weekend. Recommended versions include AMD 26.7.1, NVIDIA 610.74 or newer, and Intel 101.8864.
We also have a guide detailing Gears of War: E-Day Open Beta timings. Make sure to check that out.
