Legion Go BIOS Update Can Brick Devices, Lenovo Confirms

Lenovo has acknowledged that its N3CN42WW BIOS update can make some Legion Go devices unusable.
Affected users reported problems immediately after installing the firmware, including black screens, failed boots, and a red LED while the handheld refuses to start.
Lenovo previously removed N3CN42WW from its download page without explaining the reason.
Lenovo Reproduced the Failure on Three Devices
Lenovo says its engineers reproduced the problem on three test units in its L2.5 laboratory in Europe.
However, other Lenovo teams successfully installed the same BIOS without experiencing the failure. That inconsistency has made identifying the cause more difficult.
The company suspects the issue could relate to a particular hardware component, production batch, or combination of conditions. Lenovo has not identified the exact root cause yet.
Importantly, Lenovo says users did not cause the problem.
Lenovo Will Repair Affected Legion Go Devices for Free
Legion Go devices that remain under warranty qualify for repair through Lenovo support.
Lenovo also confirmed that it will repair or replace affected out-of-warranty Legion Go units free of charge if the N3CN42WW update caused the failure.
Customers can also check the consumer protection laws that apply in their country.
Legion Go Owners Should Avoid N3CN42WW
Anyone who has not installed N3CN42WW should avoid the recalled BIOS.
Lenovo also warns users not to download the firmware from third-party mirrors and manually flash it. Owners whose handheld stopped working after the update should contact Lenovo support instead.
Users should wait for further instructions or a replacement BIOS before attempting another firmware update.
In other Lenovo news, the Lenovo Legion Go 2 received a major price reduction a few months ago, while Lenovo IdeaPad Vibe specifications recently leaked.
Those leaked specifications also suggest Lenovo reserves Copilot+ PC branding for models with at least 16GB of RAM.
