Outlook Usage Report Retirement Pushed Back to November

Microsoft has delayed the retirement of the Outlook for Windows Usage Report in the Exchange admin center, giving administrators a few more months before the reporting change takes effect.

According to the updated Message Center ID MC1230889, Microsoft previously planned to retire the report between mid-August and mid-September 2026.

The company now expects the retirement process to begin in early November and finish by late November 2026.

Outlook usage reporting is moving to Microsoft 365 admin center

Microsoft plans to move Outlook usage reporting from the Exchange admin center to the Microsoft 365 admin center.

The company says the change will help streamline reporting and give administrators access to more complete and current usage data across Microsoft 365 apps.

Once Microsoft retires the existing Outlook for Windows Usage Report, admins will need to use the Microsoft 365 admin center for the relevant reporting data.

Admins do not need to take action

Microsoft will handle the retirement automatically, and administrators will not receive an option to keep the existing report enabled. There is no opt-out setting or admin toggle associated with the change.

The retirement only affects where administrators access Outlook usage reporting. It does not change Outlook for Windows features or functionality for regular users.

Microsoft has several other Outlook changes in development. The company is adding a classic theme to new Outlook, while Outlook Mobile is getting OneDrive support for image signatures.

Microsoft also plans to introduce a floating Copilot chat in Outlook, giving users another way to access the AI assistant while working with email.
