Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct & Nintendo Direct Announced

Nintendo is about to crank up the Zelda hype. The company has announced two Direct showcases, putting Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake back in the spotlight. The first showcase is the Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct. It kicks September 8 at 7 AM PT and runs for roughly 30 minutes.

Nintendo says the showcase will offer various information related with The Legend of Zelda. It has not specifically confirmed Ocarina of Time footage. But that has not stopped the speculation. Nintendo already confirmed the remake during its June Direct.

The game is officially coming exclusively to Nintendo Switch 2 in 2026. Nintendo still lists only 2026 as its release window. A second Nintendo Direct follows on September 9. That showcase runs around 45 minutes and focuses on Switch 2 games arriving this winter.

A Swedish retailer still lists 12th November 2026 as the “expected release date” for Ocarina of Time Remake. The September Directs therefore come at an interesting moment. Nintendo has a confirmed remake, a confirmed 2026 window, and several unanswered questions.

The September 8 presentation is the obvious place for that information. However, Nintendo has not promised it yet. We’ll see what exactly Nintendo has in store for on that day. By the way, there’s also a Nintendo Treehouse scheduled.
