Latest Windows 10 updates can slow down your PC significantly

performance or security related.

It’s already a known fact that the update came with a lot of issues, but Microsoft tries to solve them with each update patch they release.

Although Windows 10 v1903 update was meant to improve performance and make things run smoother, in some cases it made PCs almost unusable, as one user describes the problem:

I installed update 1903 and now my PC is not only running slower but on startup it takes forever getting the wait circle.

And he’s not the only one:

I have the same problem after 1903.  UI interaction is lagging and slow. Everything from mouse movement to typing will often lag. The notifications centre on the left just topped working (sure a reboot will bring it back).  It’s been like this for weeks now.

It seems like this is a recurring problem, and many Windows 10 users rolled back to previous versions of Windows just to get rid of it.

What can I do if my PC is slow after updating to Windows 10 v1903?

This is particularly weird, as it was reported on systems with SSDs.

If you have the same issue, you can try a clean boot or a disk defragmentation and see if the issue persists. If that doesn’t work, you can always roll back to the previous version of Windows 10.

Disk Defragmenter doesn’t work? Check out this useful guide to solve the problem quickly.

Also, you can try a clean install, as it might solve the slowdown.

To completely avoid the problem, you can block the Windows 10 v1903 update for now, and wait for a couple more update patches.
