AMD has officially launched the Radeon RX 9070 GRE in the United States and other global markets after previously limiting the card to select regions, including China. The wider rollout was announced during Computex 2026.

The new GPU sits between the Radeon RX 9060 XT and the standard RX 9070 in AMD’s gaming lineup. AMD appears to position the card directly against Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 5060 Ti while targeting the mainstream 1440p gaming segment.

AMD targets 1440p gamers

According to AMD, the Radeon RX 9070 GRE delivers strong gains in traditional rasterized gaming workloads. The company claims the GPU can be up to 40% faster than the RTX 5060 Ti at 1440p in certain titles.

AMD specifically highlighted games such as Monster Hunter Wilds and Resident Evil Requiem during its presentation. In lighter esports-focused games like Arc Raiders and Overwatch 2, AMD expects the performance gap to be smaller.

The company also shared average gaming figures, claiming the RX 9070 GRE is around 22% faster overall than Nvidia’s competing card across AMD’s internal benchmark suite.

AMD also pushes ray tracing performance

AMD says the RX 9070 GRE improves ray tracing performance as well. According to the company’s own numbers, the GPU can reach up to 30% better ray tracing performance than the RTX 5060 Ti in some workloads.

AMD used Assassin’s Creed Shadows and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 as examples during the announcement. The company expects the card to deliver better ray-traced gaming performance while maintaining strong 1440p frame rates.

Independent testing will still be important because AMD’s presentation did not fully detail the testing methodology, upscaling settings, or exact benchmark configurations for every title shown.

RX 9070 GRE pricing and value

AMD priced the Radeon RX 9070 GRE at $549 globally.

For comparison, AMD used a $569 reference price for Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16GB during its Computex presentation. Based on those numbers, AMD claims the RX 9070 GRE delivers roughly 26% better value.

The launch also gives AMD another option in the increasingly competitive upper-midrange GPU market, where pricing and VRAM capacity continue to influence buyer decisions.

AMD continues expanding its GPU strategy

The wider RX 9070 GRE release arrives during an important period for AMD. Last month, the company predicted a possible 20% revenue drop due to ongoing market conditions and export-related challenges.

At the same time, AMD has continued introducing new gaming-focused technologies and platform features. One recent example is the upcoming CPPC performance feature, which could improve PC responsiveness and gaming efficiency on supported systems.

The RX 9070 GRE now gives AMD another globally available RDNA gaming option as competition in the GPU market intensifies ahead of the second half of 2026.
