Microsoft released the latest Patch Tuesday security updates for Windows 11, and they fix a lot of vulnerabilities, including 8 severe zero-day CVEs. However, the new KB5050009 for Build 26100.2894 (Windows 11 24H2) has a surprise bug for users running Windows 11 on ARM devices.
According to the Microsoft release document, you will have problems running Roblox if you downloaded it from Microsoft Store:
We’re aware of an issue where players on Arm devices are unable to download and play Roblox via the Microsoft Store on Windows.
Luckily, the software giant also offers a simple solution for this problem. You can just download the game from the official Roblox website and the game should run just fine.
We don’t know yet why the KB5050009 is only affecting the Microsoft Store Roblox version and why it’s only a problem for this particular title and not others as well.
It’s also important to note that the new update for Windows 11 adds the DriverSiPolicy.p7b driver to the Windows Kernel Vulnerable Driver Blocklist file. The list covers the drivers that are at risk for Bring Your Own Vulnerable Driver (BYOVD) attacks.
This is another reason why you should download and install drivers only from official sources or employ the help of driver updater tools that have updated information about all these malicious files.
In conclusion, if you’re running Windows 11 24H2 on an ARM-powered device and have problems launching Roblox, just reinstall it from the Roblox website.
