The ASUS ROG Ally X was already on the pricey side, and now, it’s officially more expensive (via PC Guide). Best Buy has increase the price of both 1TB and 2TB models of the ASUS ROG Ally X by $100.
At launch, the 1TB ASUS ROG Ally X was $799. Now it’s $899. The 2TB version? It just crept up to $999. That’s a big jump, especially for anyone waiting on a sale. Do note that these are US prices. In the U.K., pricing hasn’t changed yet. You can still grab the 1TB ROG Ally X for £799.
The change was first spotted by a Reddit user, skumbagkitty. Understandably, many were disappointed by the price hike. One even said they’d been holding off in hopes of a price drop, not the other way around.
ASUS hasn’t offered a reason, but this kind of price movement isn’t new. The Lenovo Legion Go S saw a bump before launch, and even big names like Sony is condidering to raise PS5 prices.
For now, buyers in the U.S. might be better off going with the original model and upgrading the SSD themselves. It won’t match the ASUS ROG Ally X performance, but your wallet might thank you.
