VLC Media Player is one of the most popular media players available on the Windows platform, and it is fully capable of playing several video formats.

That said, some users have repeatedly reported This Blu-ray Disc needs a library for AACS decoding, and your system does not have it error when trying to play a Blu-ray disc using the VLC media player.

This error can occur on both the older and newer version of Windows, including Windows 7, 10, and 11.

What are the possible causes for the AACS decoding error?

The issue can be triggered if your Blu-ray disc is protected by AACs and BD+ technologies or if the KeyDB.cfg file is missing from the disc.

If you are also troubled by this problem, here are a couple of troubleshooting tips to help you resolve This Blu-ray disc that needs a library for AACS decoding error in Windows.

No valid processing key was found in the AACS config file

Here’s an interesting scenario that we believe deserves its own special section. AACS is a standard for content distribution designed to prevent infringement of digital rights through unauthorized disc copies.

It’s similar to the AES encryption standard and it relies on keys to control who has access to the contents of a disc.

There are 4 major pillars that allow the decryption of an AACS-protected disk: MKB (the Media Key Block), The Encrypted Keys, the Volume ID, and the Encrypted Content.

If one of them is revoked, misplaced, or otherwise not available, you simply cannot play the respective content.

The no valid processing key found in AACS config file error is self-explanatory (the encrypted title key is missing), while the AACCS decoding error in VLC indicated that the player lacks the necessary libraries to play the content.

Expert Tip: Some PC issues are hard to tackle, especially when it comes to corrupted repositories or missing Windows files. If you are having troubles fixing an error, your system may be partially broken. We recommend installing Restoro, a tool that will scan your machine and identify what the fault is.
