CD Projekt RED Brings Cyberpunk 2077 to VR Venues With Zero Latency
Cyberpunk 2077 is officially getting a VR experience, but it won’t be what most players expect. Instead of a full VR port, CD Projekt RED has partnered with Zero Latency VR to create a separate, custom-built experience designed specifically for location-based venues.
The project will roll out to more than 150 locations across 30 countries, bringing players into Night City through free-roam VR environments rather than home setups.
Built For Free-Roam VR With Full-Body Movement And Multiplayer
The experience uses Zero Latency’s free-roam VR technology, allowing players to physically walk through real-world spaces while exploring virtual environments. It supports wireless headsets and full-body tracking, creating a more immersive and social gameplay format.
Multiplayer is a key focus, with shared sessions designed to let groups experience Night City together. The concept aligns with previous Zero Latency titles, such as Far Cry VR, which emphasize cooperative gameplay and physical interaction.
Not A Full Game Port, But A Social VR Experience
This version of Cyberpunk 2077 is not a direct adaptation of the original game. Instead, it offers a condensed, purpose-built experience focused on exploration and immersion rather than replicating the full RPG.
Players can expect a new way to interact with Night City, built around movement, presence, and group gameplay rather than traditional controls.
Release Details Still Unknown
CD Projekt RED and Zero Latency have not revealed gameplay specifics or a release date yet. More details are expected as the rollout approaches.
The announcement comes amid broader shifts in the VR and gaming space. Meta recently laid off hundreds of employees, including teams within Reality Labs, signaling ongoing challenges in the VR sector.
At the same time, Microsoft has started sending early Forza Horizon 6 preview builds to content creators, while a new Arc Raiders update has introduced fresh content as part of its 2026 roadmap.
