Copilot in Microsoft Stream is about to boost your productivity at work. Here's why

Copilot on Microsoft 365 was announced quite a while ago, with Microsoft saying that the AI tool will be available on every Microsoft app. Now if we take a closer look at the state of AI in Microsoft 365 apps, there is a Copilot for every app: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneDrive, and many more.

Microsoft Stream, which is an app that allows for video content management, will also get Copilot in February 2024, according to the latest entry in the Microsoft 365 Roadmap.

The Redmond-based tech giant recently added another point in the Roadmap for Microsoft Stream, which lets users trim videos; the feature will also automatically arrange and organize transcripted cuts of the video to match the new editing. The feature should be released on the platform before the end of this year.

Coming back to Copilot on Stream, the AI tool will be able to provide users with captions, transcriptions, and summarization of video content. However, there is one important thing to consider: users will only have access to it if they purchase a Microsoft 365 Copilot license.

Copilot in Microsoft Stream: Here’s what you can do with it

According to Microsoft, Copilot in Stream could greatly reduce the time spent on finding certain information within your organization. The Redmond-based tech giant says the AI tool will be able to solve tasks in seconds, just by asking it questions using natural language.

Among the tasks it can complete are the following:

• Summarize video content to identify relevant points users need to watch.
• Ask questions to get insights from long or detailed videos.
• Locate where people, teams, or topics are discussed so that users can jump to that point in the video.
• Identify calls to action and where users can get involved to help.

Microsoft Teams debuted a similar feature earlier this year, called Intelligent Recap, which lets users recap a Teams meeting with every important detail. That feature was also AI-backed, as Intelligent Recap provided users with suggested tasks, based on the topics discussed in the meeting.

Copilot in Stream is capable of similar tasks, so if you’re already familiar with the Intelligent Recap or using Copilot on any other Microsoft product, you should have no problem using Copilot in Microsoft Stream.
