Microsoft Teams’ Town Hall feature is about to get way easier to use, and just in time, too. If you remember, a while ago, Microsoft decided to deprecate its Stream Live events, which will effectively take place at the end of this month.

As an alternative and a recommendation, the Redmond-based tech giant says all those using Microsoft Stream to host live events should migrate to Teams’ Town Hall, which is a platform that allows the organization of events with over 20K attendees.

To encourage the migration, Microsoft is adding a bunch of new features to Town Hall that will essentially transform it into the go-to platform for live events hosting.

According to the Microsoft 356 Roadmap, the first 2 of these features will be introduced to Town Hall in February 2024, on Microsoft Teams, and they will greatly ease the way live events can be created and managed in Town Hall.

This is how Teams’ Town Hall will become the go-to platform for live events

Organizers will be able to select languages for translation in a Town Hall

Starting February 2024, Town Hall will allow organizers to select and enable caption languages in live events. This way, all attendees will be able to pick their preferred language when participating in such events. Microsoft teams town halls

As Microsoft states, organizers will be able to select 10 languages, so that’s more than enough for those live events that imply global audiences.

Town hall organizers will be able to select the caption languages that will be available to the attendees for translation. Currently the languages are preset for attendees to pick from; now organizers will be able to select the 10 translated languages available to attendees.

Co-organizers will have editing rights on Town Hall live meetings

Because hosting a big live event might involve several managers, Teams will introduce the ability to let co-organizers edit and manage Town Hall meetings, starting February 2024. They will have the same editing rights as the organizer, as Microsoft states, and they will be able to publish or even cancel an event.

Co-organizers can edit town hall details, publish the event, and cancel the event, similar to the organizer.

These updates are coming just in time, as Teams’ Town Hall is set to replace and become the alternative for the soon-to-be Streams’ live events. The Redmond-based tech giant will update the platform with more features in the following months, so those managers who are worried that they don’t have an alternative, should give Town Hall a try.
