The highly anticipated open-world game Crimson Desert is finally out, but things are not going well on PC. After six years of waiting, the massive release is struggling hard to keep players happy. A giant wave of problems just pushed the game to a mixed rating on Steam, with over forty percent of all user reviews currently sitting in the negative category. Fans are clearly making their voices heard.

Why are players leaving negative scores

While most players agree that the giant world looks beautiful, the actual gameplay is causing a lot of headaches. According to recent data from Steam, over eight thousand people have left a thumbs down on the store page. Many buyers are complaining about annoying inventory menus and clunky controls that make moving around feel like a chore.

Gamers are also unhappy with the main story and the overall pacing. One player even summed up the experience by calling it completely tedious and simply not fun to play. Because the game carries a heavy seventy-dollar price tag, buyers are naturally expecting a lot more than just a pretty background to look at. It’s worth mentioning that the game doesn’t support Intel Arc graphics.

It has received mixed reactions across all platforms

The developers at Pearl Abyss are already pushing out software updates to fix the broken inventory screens and smooth out the messy controls. However, changing a boring storyline or fixing the core pacing of a campaign is nearly impossible after a game launches. The mixed feelings are not just coming from PC players, either.

Console players on the PlayStation 5 are also running into problems, with some fans comparing the console graphics to much older games from the PlayStation 3 era. Even though the game had a massive amount of hype before release, it is clear that the studio has a lot of work left to do.
