When working on your PC, sometimes you may encounter ERROR_PAGE_FAULT_PAGING_FILE 751 (0x2EF) Page fault was satisfied by reading from a secondary storage device.
This error can cause problems with certain applications, but you can fix it by following the steps from this guide.
How can I fix ERROR_PAGE_FAULT_PAGING_FILE?
1. Check the memory usage
- Open Task Manager. You can do that quickly with the Ctrl + Shift + Esc shortcut.
- Navigate to the Performance tab and monitor the memory usage.
- If the memory usage is high, go to the Processes tab and locate the processes that are using too much of your memory.
- Once you locate the process, you can disable it if itโs nonessential or remove it if itโs associated with third-party software.
2. Adjust the paging file
- Press the Windows key + S and type advanced. Select View advanced system settings.
- Next, in the Performance section click on Settings.
- Head to the Advanced tab and click on Change.
- Select Automatically manage paging file size for all drives.

3. Monitor events on your PC
- Press Windows key + R and type eventvwr.
- Next, go to Windows Logs and choose System.
- Look for any memory-related events and check which processes cause them.
4. Other tips you can use
- For best performance, store the paging file on SSD.
- Update applications that might have memory leaks.
- Close unnecessary applications to free up your memory.
- If nothing else works, you might have to increase your RAM.
