Firefox Update Brings Smarter Split View, Better Security, and PDF Editing Tools

Firefox 150 update brings smarter workflows and improved sharing options

firefox 150 update

Mozilla has released Firefox 150, introducing new features, quality-of-life improvements, and expanded security protections. The update focuses on productivity tools, better tab management, and stronger privacy controls across all platforms.

Split View gets smarter and faster

Firefox 150 improves Split View with more flexible controls. Users can now open links directly in Split View using the right-click menu, making multitasking quicker. The browser also lets users search open tabs when setting up Split View and includes a new “Reverse Tabs” option to instantly swap positions.

Tab sharing and organization improvements

Mozilla enhanced tab sharing by allowing multiple tabs to be shared at once. When users paste links, Firefox now automatically includes both the page title and URL, improving clarity when sharing content.

Built-in PDF editor gets major upgrade

The integrated PDF editor now supports more advanced actions. Users can reorder pages, copy and paste content, delete pages, and export edited files without relying on third-party tools. This makes Firefox a more complete document-handling solution.

Stronger security for local network access

Firefox 150 expands its local network protections to all users. Websites must now request permission before accessing local devices or services. Previously, this feature was limited to users with strict tracking protection enabled, but it now applies more broadly.

Private translation tools expand

Mozilla continues improving its privacy-focused translation features. Real-time translations are available through the about:translations page, and users can quickly access them by typing “translate” in the address bar.

Platform-specific updates

On Linux, Firefox now supports the GTK emoji picker with Ctrl + . shortcut and introduces a new .rpm package for distributions like Fedora and openSUSE.

On Windows, Mozilla added support for installing web apps via the Microsoft Store. The update also brings a new profile management system to all users, including options to back up profiles on Windows 10 and 11.

More control over tabs and profiles

Firefox 150 introduces improved profile handling and customization options. Users can disable drag-and-drop tab group creation from Settings > Tabs, giving more control over how tabs behave.

Firefox 150.0 is now available for download and is rolling out through automatic updates.

In other news, Mozilla recently criticized Microsoft over its Copilot push and continues working on its upcoming Nova UI redesign.
