Halo Studios Reportedly Hit by Layoffs Shortly After Halo: Campaign Evolved Launch

Xbox has spent months reshaping its business after committing to transform the platform for good. Studio closures, studio split, and layoffs have become an unfortunate trend across Xbox. Now, that list appears to have grown once again. According to Insider Gaming, Halo Studios has reportedly been affected by another round of layoffs shortly after releasing Halo: Campaign Evolved, the franchise’s latest entry and the first Halo title to launch on PlayStation alongside Xbox and PC.

Halo Studios employees begin confirming departures

The report points to several LinkedIn posts from Halo Studios employees who say their time at the company has ended. Among them is producer Nick Treitman, who revealed he had been affected after more than six years at the studio.

Treitman wrote that after surviving several previous rounds of layoffs, the latest cuts had finally reached him. Despite that, he said he still has nothing but appreciation for Halo and the people he worked alongside.

Another employee, Paul Morris, also confirmed his departure on LinkedIn after the launch of Halo: Campaign Evolved. Morris noted that he worked as a contractor but said his time with Halo Studios had officially come to an end. Software engineer Caleb Lawrence has also updated his profile to indicate he is available for work, adding to signs that multiple employees have been impacted.

The latest cuts continue Xbox’s broader restructuring trend

The reported layoffs come only weeks after Microsoft’s sweeping restructuring across its Xbox business. Earlier this year, the company announced widespread job cuts, project cancellations, and studio changes affecting several first-party teams.

That being said, Microsoft and Halo Studios have not officially confirmed the scale of the reported layoffs. The current information comes from employee LinkedIn posts highlighted by Insider Gaming, and the total number of affected staff remains unknown. As of now, there are no official number.
