The service can stop working due to several reasons, including incorrect login details, issues with your internet connection or streaming device, or glitches in the app.

What to do if HBO Now or HBO Go stops working?

1. Force Close the app

For Android TV

HBO Now Not Working

  1. From the home screen, scroll down and open Settings.
  2. Select Apps.
  3. Select the HBO Go app from the list.
  4. Press the Force Stop button to close the application.
  5. Relaunch the HBO Go app and check for any improvements.

For Apple TV

HBO Now Not Working

  1. Press the home button on your remote twice.
  2. Highlight the HBO Go app and swipe up to close.
  3. Relaunch the app from the home screen.

For Roku TV

HBO Now Not Working

  1. Press the home button on your Roku remote to close the application.
  2. Relaunch the HBO Go app from the channel list.

Clear Chrome browser cache

HBO Now Not Working

  1. Click the menu icon (โ€ฆ) and select Settings.
  2. Open the Privacy and security.
  3. Click on Clear browsing data.
  4. Open the Advanced tab.
  5. For the Time range, select the Last 24 hours.
  6. Check all the items that you want to clear, including Cookies and other site data.
  7. Click the Clear data button.
  8. Relaunch Google Chrome and check if the issue is resolved.

Additionally, try accessing HBO using any other web browser. If the service works fine when using other browsers, try reinstalling Chrome to see if that helps you resolve the issue.

2. Perform a power cycle

HBO GO Not Working

  1. Power off your TV and other streaming devices like Roku.
  2. Unplug the cables connected to the TV and the power outlet.
  3. Leave the devices unplugged for a few minutes.
  4. Reconnect the required cables and connect your streaming device to the TV.
  5. Power on the devices and check if the HBO Now service is working.

Check for internet issues

  1. Check if your Internet connection is stable. Streaming HBO content requires a fast and stable internet connection.
  2. You can use a third-party internet speed testing tool to check the internet speed.
  3. If the issue persists, turn off your Modem and WiFi router.

3. Reinstall HBO Go app

For Android TV

  1. From the home screen, launch Google Play Store.
  2. Click the menu icon in the top-left corner and choose My Apps and Games.
  3. Select the HBO Go app from the list and select Uninstall. Select OK to confirm.
  4. Return to the Google Play Store home screen and search for HBO Go or HBO Now app.
  5. Select Install and wait for the installation to complete.
  6. Launch the app and check if the error is resolved.

For Roku TV

HBO GO Not Working

  1. From the home screen, highlight HBO Go.
  2. Press the Star * button on your Roku TV remote.
  3. Select Remove Channel and then select OK to confirm.
  4. To reinstall, search for HBO Go and select Add Channel.
