Jetpack Cat in Overwatch Is Real, and It’s Coming as a Superhero Earlier Than You Expected

Blizzard’s latest Overwatch Spotlight reveal made one thing clear: the studio is done playing it safe. As detailed in our full breakdown of everything announced at the Overwatch Spotlight 2026 reveal, Blizzard is preparing a bunch of experimental ideas for the game’s future. And nothing shows that better than Jetpack Cat. Yes, Jetpack Cat is real now.

Jetpack Cat expands Overwatch’s universe

Officially named Fika, the long-rumored flying feline is finally joining Overwatch as part of a five-hero drop, which is the boldest roster expansion the game has ever attempted. What once felt “too ridiculous for Overwatch” back in 2017 has suddenly become the centerpiece of Blizzard’s new creative direction.

Jetpack Cat will debut as a Support hero, but she doesn’t play like anything the role has seen before. Fika is Overwatch’s first permanent-flight character, capable of staying airborne while tethering teammates and carrying them across the map. She can also grab enemies mid-air and drop them into bad positions, or straight off the map, creating chaos that feels both playful and dangerous.

Her kit leans heavily into movement and disruption. Biotic Pawjectiles heal allies while damaging enemies, Purr emits a healing pulse that doubles as knockback, and Frenetic Flight gives her rapid acceleration in the air. Every ability ties back to the jetpack itself, a device built by Brigitte after she took Fika in as a stray.

Voice Actor Jennifer Hale brings Jetpack Cat to life

Blizzard says the timing finally feels right. Overwatch’s universe has matured, animal heroes are already established, so it seemed okay to take some bold bets. A flying cat no longer breaks immersion but instead expands it, especially now that voice actor Jennifer Hale is giving voice to Overwatch’s most ridiculous new hero, Jetpack Cat.

Jetpack Cat launches with Overwatch Season 1 on February 10, and whether players love her or fear her, one thing’s certain: Overwatch just got a lot weirder, and it seems Blizzard clearly wanted that.
