Microsoft dropped its May update for Xbox and PC players, and it’s a big one. It adds the new Retro Classics. But that’s not all. Xbox May update adds GeForce NOW to the Xbox app
Streaming games on PC just got better. When you click “cloud play” on a supported game, a new choice shows up. The Xbox app now asks where you want to stream. As part of this update, you can pick Microsoft’s servers or NVIDIA’s GeForce NOW.
If the game works on both, you’ll see both options. Clicking NVIDIA takes you to their platform. Choosing Xbox starts the game inside the app. This makes cloud gaming feel more flexible. It’s simple, and it works.
Game Bar now comes with faster controls and Edge
Microsoft also revamped the Game Bar. The Settings widget got a visual update and works better now. You can adjust audio, brightness, or connected devices quickly. You can even pull up a virtual keyboard.
Another update is coming soon that lets you use the Game Assist button within Microsoft Edge from inside the Game Bar. You’ll be able to search for walkthroughs or anything else right from your game. It uses your own browser data. That means favorites, passwords, and history are already there.
Play Anywhere keeps growing, Rewards get a boost
Over 70 games have launched this year with Xbox Play Anywhere. Buy once, play on both Xbox and PC. Saves, DLC, and achievements sync between platforms.
There’s also a nice upgrade for Xbox Rewards. You can now redeem points for any custom gift card amount between $5 and $100. You’ll find the new option under the “Custom” tab in the Rewards Hub.
