Surface Hub

Microsoft has officially announced the end of support for its Surface Hub and Surface Hub 2S devices, marking a significant transition for users of these collaborative tools. Support will cease on October 14, 2025, coinciding with the end of mainstream support for Windows 10.

The end of support means these devices will no longer receive security updates, fixes, or other assistance from Microsoft. Additionally, the Microsoft Teams app will no longer be available on these devices, urging corporate users to upgrade their meeting spaces to maintain functionality.

Microsoft has outlined several paths for users to adapt to this change:

  • The original Surface Hub will be entirely out of support after October 2025, with no hardware refresh options available.
  • Users can opt for a hardware refresh by purchasing the Surface Hub 3 Compute Cartridge, which includes updated hardware and Windows 11-based Teams Rooms. Alternatively, users can migrate to Teams Rooms on Windows using Microsoft’s free Surface Hub 2S migration offering until October 14, 2025. Switching to Windows 11 Pro or Enterprise is also an option for personal use.

While this change primarily affects corporate users, it also highlights the broader impact of Windows 10’s end of support. Consumer products like the universal OneNote app for Windows will also be affected, emphasizing the need for users to transition to newer platforms.
