Microsoft brings AI to Europe, as it invests billions in Spain's AI and cloud infrastructure

As the Microsoft AI tour continues, the Redmond-based tech continues to announce AI and cloud investments in Europe, with Spain being another European country that will receive billions from the company.
Last week, Microsoft announced that it would help Germany update its infrastructure with AI and cloud technologies, sparking a hope that Copilot could finally be available to Europe. Now, that spark becomes a flame, as Spain will also get around $2.1 billion in investments from Microsoft – the country will use these investments to set up and update its infrastructure with AI and cloud technologies, as well.
Brad Smith, Microsoft’s vice president announced it on X (formerly known as Twitter), and Satya Nadella confirmed it.
I’m thrilled to announce that we will expand our AI and cloud infrastructure in Spain by $2.1B USD in the next two years. Our investment is beyond just building data centers, it’s a testament to our 37-year commitment to Spain, its security, and development and digital transformation of its government, businesses, and people.

While there aren’t many details about the partnership between Spain and Microsoft, the company will most likely help the country update its infrastructure with modern technology.
Could this mean Copilot is finally coming to Europe? Well, as we previously stated, it could be possible. Germany and Spain are both influential countries within the European Union, and they could lobby AI to the other European states within the Union.
As you might know, Microsoft is currently blacklisted in the region, after the EU decided that it could monopolize the market. The Redmond-based tech giant has started to update Windows to be more EEA-compliant, and by that, the operating system will be released with special features only available in the region.
Ultimately, Copilot might be released to the region under EEA policies, but for now, it’s not available.
