Microsoft Build 2024: Where to attend & What to expect?

Microsoft offered a first glimpse of its annual Build conference, where pretty much the biggest announcements Microsoft-wise are made. In 2024, Microsoft Build will be held offline, in Seattle, at the Summit building, between May 21 and 23, starting at 9 AM PST.

The Redmond-based tech giant posted the announcement on X (formerly known as Twitter), saying those interested should expect AI, Copilots, and more for Developers.

In 2023, Build’s biggest announcement was definitely Copilot for Windows, but the company also announced 23H2, Microsoft Fabric, and many more, at the hybrid conference.

So what exactly should you expect from Microsoft Build 2024?

This year, however, we should be getting glimpses of Windows 11 24H2, possibly even the next Windows version, which is reportedly AI-based, and will have many AI capabilities, new Surface devices, and a plethora of new Copilots coming to Microsoft products, and Windows.

It will be interesting to see what Microsoft has in store for us: the Redmond-based tech giant recently introduced Copilot Pro for Windows and Microsoft 365, which offers advanced AI capabilities, and the company also confirmed that the next Windows version won’t be out this year.

Instead, we’ll be getting the Windows 11 24H2 major patch which is slated for release, later this year. 24H2 is already rolling out in the Windows Insider Program, with Microsoft releasing the same builds for both Dev and Canary channels, and users need only switch between them, now (although, this is only temporary).

The 24H2 has seen some interesting features: the AI-powered Auto Super Resolution is a welcomed feature for Windows gamers, but there will be many features Windows users should be excited about, such as the Sudo option.

Microsoft also announced the release of the Copilot key for Windows devices, and manufacturers are set to release the first devices sporting this new key starting in March, and April. So, as we’re living in the age of AI, an AI-powered Windows is imminent, but we might get a first glimpse at it at the Microsoft Build 2024.

For now, it’s very early to say anything about the conference, but Microsoft promised AI, and a lot of AI we will get.
