Microsoft Teams jump list update is now rolling out widely, bringing faster access to meetings and chats from the Windows taskbar while removing the Quit option.

Microsoft completes Teams jump list rollout on Windows

Microsoft is finalizing the deployment of a redesigned jump list for Microsoft Teams on Windows. The update gives enterprise users quicker access to meetings and chat actions directly from the taskbar without opening the full app interface.

The rollout began in mid-November 2025 and was originally expected to finish by late November. Microsoft later delayed full deployment to mid-February, and the feature is now available across Worldwide, GCC, GCCH, and DoD cloud environments.

Quit option removed from the taskbar menu

One of the most noticeable changes is the removal of the Quit option from the taskbar jump list. Microsoft says the decision prevents accidental closures during active calls and aligns Teams more closely with other Microsoft 365 applications.

Users who want to fully exit Teams must now use the system tray icon instead of the taskbar menu. The company encourages organizations to inform help desk teams about this behavior change and to update any internal documentation that still references the old Quit shortcut.

The update installs automatically as part of the Teams desktop app release, and no administrative action is required. Additional details are available in the Microsoft 365 Admin Center under Message ID MC1184652.

The jump list update arrives shortly after Microsoft unlocked certain premium Teams features for enterprise users at no additional cost. At the same time, the company has delayed the rollout of location tracking in Teams and introduced a new brand impersonation protection feature for voice calls to strengthen security.

With these adjustments, Microsoft continues refining the Teams desktop experience while aiming to reduce accidental disruptions and improve workflow efficiency.
