Microsoft released a new build for the Dev Channel insiders of Windows 11, the KB5050083, and this update introduced some significant updates for the operating system, including a new improved Windows Search and new text action for Click to Do, two features made explicitly for Copilot+ PCs.
However, there was one other change that Microsoft didn’t mention in its blog post: Windows 11 has finally implemented a proper battery percentage indicator that will tell users the exact battery status.
Discovered by Windows insider @phantomofearth, Windows 11 shows your device’s battery percentage right in the system tray next to the battery icon.
If you’d prefer not to see the battery percentage, turn the feature off by heading to Settings > System > Power and toggling off the new “Battery percentage” option, as shown in the featured image above.
This feature has been available in third-party apps for a while now. Still, it’s nice to see Microsoft finally paying attention to this critical battery information, especially since Windows 11 didn’t even include a native battery percentage option in its initial release. Users won’t have to install additional apps to do the same job.
It’s worth noting that the battery percentage feature is only available to a subset of Insider testers. But assuming everything goes smoothly, it’ll likely roll out to all Windows 11 users shortly.
If you want to enable it, you should do so by using ViveTool, and the following command:
vivetool /enable /id:48822452,48433719
Let us know if it worked.
