Microsoft Teams Mobile to Get “Catch Up” Feature for Chats and Meetings

Microsoft is expanding its mobile experience with a new productivity-focused feature for Teams users. While we already know that Teams Rooms on mobile will receive live meeting transcription, Microsoft is now introducing another update aimed at improving message visibility.

According to Microsoft 365 Admin Center (Message ID: MC1260707), the company is rolling out a new “Catch up” feature in Microsoft Teams mobile.

Catch up helps users quickly review missed activity

The new “Catch up” feature gives users a streamlined way to stay on top of conversations they may have missed. It aggregates activity across chats, meeting chats, and followed channels or threads into a single, easy-to-digest view.

Users will see a new card-based interface inside the Chat section. By tapping the “Catch up” option, they can browse recent messages displayed as individual cards, making it easier to scan updates quickly.

The feature also introduces simple swipe gestures for faster message management. Swiping right marks a message as read, while swiping left keeps it unread for later review.

Mobile-only feature with no admin setup required

Microsoft confirms that “Catch up” is exclusive to mobile devices and does not impact the desktop version of Teams. The feature will be enabled by default, so admins do not need to configure anything before rollout.

However, Microsoft recommends that administrators inform users about the change and update any internal documentation if necessary. The goal is to help organizations reduce missed messages and improve response times across teams.

The rollout will begin with a targeted release to users in April 2026, followed by general availability in early May 2026.

As for other updates, Microsoft has delayed native screen sharing support on macOS, and the company has also confirmed that the Teams Meeting add-in is preventing some users from accessing Outlook Classic.
