[UPDATED] NVIDIA RTX 5070 Ti Won't Hit The Dead End For Now
[UPDATE: January 16, 2026 | 20:45 IST] Per Windows Central‘s latest update, Hardware Unboxed has shared a new statement it received from ASUS on the matter. It reads, “The GeForce RTX 5070 Ti and GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB have not been discontinued or designated as end-of-life (EOL). ASUS has no plans to stop selling these models. Current fluctuations in supply for both products are primarily due to memory supply constraints, which have temporarily affected production output and restocking cycles. As a result, availability may appear limited in certain markets, but this should not be interpreted as a production halt or product retirement.” Here’s the original tweet from Hardware Unboxed:
[ORIGINAL STORY] After years of chasing higher performance, the GPU market is now running into a different kind of problem. Here, I’m talking about a memory crunch. While NVIDIA’s latest RTX lineup continues to appel masses, there were reports from December last year that the supply side is facing constant pressure, which might change that. Well, those reports were apparently correct. Now, new reports suggest that ASUS has quietly stopped producing two higher-VRAM models: the RTX 5070 Ti and the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB.
According to Hardware Unboxed, ASUS has confirmed that both GPUs have reached “end of life” status due to ongoing memory constraints (via Windows Central). As a result, the company no longer plans to manufacture these models.
RTX 5070 Ti and 5060 Ti 16GB reportedly hit the end of the road
Hardware Unboxed claims that ASUS explicitly stated that the RTX 5070 Ti is currently facing a supply shortage. Because of this, production has been halted. Retailers in Australia shared the same message, noting that the card is no longer available through partners or distributors. They also expect this situation to continue through at least the first quarter of the year.
Here’s an excerpt from Hardware Unboxed’s YouTube video:
So, the headline story is that NVIDIA has essentially killed off the GeForce RTX 5070 Ti from the market. ASUS, the largest NVIDIA AIB partner, explicitly told us this model is currently facing a supply shortage, and as such, they have placed the model into end-of-life status. This means ASUS has no plans to produce any more 5070 Ti models from this point forward. What is currently on store shelves is it from them; no more production of that card. Their GPU division is shifting focus towards other models they expect will continue to be supplied.
The RTX 5060 Ti 16GB appears to be in a similar position. ASUS reportedly told the channel it has no plans to continue producing that variant either. Both cards use 16GB of VRAM, which has become increasingly expensive to source in the current market.
There is some speculation that these GPUs could return later in the year. However, the report suggests that a comeback is unlikely. Instead, NVIDIA is expected to focus on lower-memory models like the RTX 5050, RTX 5060, and RTX 5060 Ti 8GB. The 12GB RTX 5070 is said to remain available for now, alongside the higher-end RTX 5080 and RTX 5090.
NVIDIA, however, has pushed back on the idea of discontinuation. In a statement to Engadget, the company’ss spokesperson said demand for GeForce RTX GPUs remains strong, and memory supply is constrained. It added that all GeForce SKUs continue to ship, though it stopped short of confirming the future of the 5070 Ti and 5060 Ti 16GB.
