Opera’s Aria browser AI, unlike conventional alternatives, doesn’t rely on a single LLM or AI model but picks one that’s best based on the user’s query. And to further enhance the experience, the Opera team recently integrated Google Gemini into Aria browser AI!
According to Opera’s official press release, post-integration, Opera’s native AI chatbot, Aria browser AI, will provide you with the latest information faster and more accurately. Besides, it will also expand the feature set, adding two new capabilities to Aria browser AI: image generation and voice output. The two features were earlier available in the Opera’s developer version.
Powered by the Imagen 2 model on Vertex AI, Opera’s Aria browser AI will now be able to create images based on text prompts. For voice output, it will rely on Google’s text-to-audio model to read out the responses in a conversational style.
Speaking about the collaboration and the integration of Google Gemini, Per Wetterdal, EVP of Partnerships at Opera, said,
Our companies have been cooperating for more than 20 years. We are excited to be announcing the deepening of this collaboration into the field of generative AI to further power our suite of browser AI services.
On the occasion, Eva Fors, Managing Director, Google Cloud Nordic Region, talked about the future of generative AI and the role played by Google,
We’re happy to elevate our long standing cooperation with Opera by powering its AI innovation within the browser space.
We believe the future of AI will be open, so we’re providing access to the best of Google’s infrastructure, AI products, platforms and foundation models to empower organizations to chart their course with generative AI.
Opera is making significant strides in the AI space, hoping to capture a larger share of the browser landscape, currently dominated by Google Chrome. Last month, Opera introduced a feature that lets you run LLMs locally on the PC, becoming the first browser to do so!
