Microsoft Teams can soon be included, next to all of the other social media platforms, in the digital marketing strategy for every organization.
Why? Well, the Redmond-based tech giant will introduce the ability to customize Teams Rooms with custom backgrounds for all those using the platform on Android devices.
This new feature will be added to Microsoft Teams in June 2024, according to the latest entry in the Microsoft 365 Roadmap, and the Redmond-based tech giant says it is a good opportunity for companies to brand their Teams Rooms, as well, effectively integrating Teams as another platform to be considered in a marketing strategy plan.
However, not everyone can update Teams with custom backgrounds, as only admins can upload and set images as custom backgrounds in the platform.
Administrators can upload and set images as custom themes in the Teams admin center for Teams devices, allowing images that reflect their organization’s branding. The feature will first launch for Teams Rooms on Android devices and then gradually release for other device types.

This particular feature can become a way for companies to brand themselves in events such as conferences, webinars, or virtual presentations where Teams is used as the main platform of communication.
The platform already allows users to customize their meeting backgrounds, and there are a lot of options to choose from if you don’t want to upload your own image; the Microsoft Teams app also allows for a similar feature, but Team Rooms, which are usually special rooms designed for special events, was not part of it, yet.
As Microsoft mentions in the entry, Teams Rooms for Android will be the first to experience the new feature, but other devices, such as iOS, will be gradually added, as well.
So, at the next meeting, tell your marketing managers to include Microsoft Teams in the marketing strategy, as well.
