Resident Evil Requiem Director Says Mini-Game in “Final Stages,” Release Imminent

The mini-game was first confirmed in early March by the director

Shortly after the release of Resident Evil Requiem, Director Koshi Nakanish confirmed that post-launch content would include a mini-game, something longtime players have come to expect from the series. Now, in a recent interview, the game director has dropped a fresh update suggesting that the mini game could be arriving very soon.

A mini-game release may be closer than expected, game director says development is in final stages

In an interview with Denfaminicogamer, director Akishi Nakanishi and producer Masato Kumazawa shared new details about the upcoming mini-game (via Wccftech). When asked about its status, Nakanishi said (machine-translated), “However, as for the mini-games, it is already in the final stages of development.”

That alone hints that the release might not be far off. Interestingly, the mini-game is confirmed to be single-player and “based on the battles of the main story,” which suggests a combat-heavy experience rather than something completely separate.

Adding a bit more context, Nakanishi also mentioned, “For those who have cleared the main story and thought, ‘I haven’t gone on a rampage yet!’… I think you will enjoy it.” That line alone gives a fair idea of the kind of gameplay loop players can expect here.

Likely linked to post-story completion timing

On the other hand, producer Kumazawa hinted at how and when players might access it. He noted, “This mini-game is a content that is released by clearing the main story.” So, it won’t be available right away and will likely act as a post-game reward.

He also added that it could be “just right to play if you clear it during Golden Week,” which runs from April 29 to May 5 in Japan. That timing strongly suggests the mini-game could drop around that window, or at least very shortly after.
