Sea of Thieves is a game that definitely made Microsoft smile like a Cheshire cat. This title has an active player base of over 2 million players and it’s only going up.

This represents an incredible achievement taking into account that the game was launched on March 20. Indeed, millions of players want to become absolute Pirate Legends and are willing to put in the time and effort to reach their goal.

Sea of Thieves is Microsoft’s fastest-selling first-party new IP

Sea of Thieves had more than a million players on launch day which made it the best-selling Microsoft first-party game on Windows 10.

This title is extremely popular on game streaming platforms as well. Tens of thousands of players streamed their Sea of Thieves adventure and hundred of users watched as new Pirate Legends we being built under their eyes.

Statistics suggest that SOT was the number one slot on Twitch and Mixer in the week following its launch.

More than 100,000 players have streamed Sea of Thieves since launch, resulting in more than 10 million hours watched in the last week.

Microsoft also revealed that over 400,000 players joined an Xbox Club to find pirates and share common adventures.

We’ve also been blown away by how the game has bought players together. More than half of a million new Xbox Live friendships have been forged to date and over 400,000 players have joined an Xbox Club to find pirates to share stories with.

At the same time, the Redmond giant acknowledged that the game is affected by a series of issues and promised to fix them as soon as possible.
