Skype for Android gets a new camera experience with the release of the build 8106. The build also brought a new Call screen which greatly improves the experience of making Skype calls on the go, as Microsoft claims.
The new camera experience on Skype will only be available on Android, for now, and it features a smoother, and reportedly crash-free experience, that also lets users take pictures with just a click.
There aren’t any words on a broader availability for this new camera experience other than Android. Per Skype’s latest blog post, it will be rolled out to Slype users over the next few days, so if you’re using Skype on your Android device, here’s what you should expect.
The new camera experience in Skype for Android: All the new features
Build 8106 brings to Skype for Android new ways to use the camera inside the platform. Aside from letting users take pictures with just a click, Skype will also introduce new filters and new ways to edit images right from inside the platform. Here’s how:
- Snap, Tweak, Send: Camera layout and media flows have been revamped for faster snapping, editing, and sharing.
- Up Your Selfie Game: Refresh your profile pic and other pictures directly in the app with cool new filters and edits!
- QR Code Magic: Joining chats or logging in? Just scan a QR code, and you’re in.
The new camera experience is a nice addition to Skype for Android. Users will be able to create, edit, and share their pictures with others on the platform, without the need of using another app to edit them.
Thus, it will be much easier for Microsoft to transform Skype into a new communication hub. The Redmond-based tech giant recently released content channels to the platform, as well. And they function in a similar way to WhatsApp channels.
Coupled with the ability to create their own channels inside Skype, the platform could be used as a one-for-all kind of app, aimed at professional and personal situations.
