Microsoft recently revealed that it will kill off its classic Teams, in favor of the new Teams, also dubbed Teams 2.0. This new version of Teams is faster, better, and has far more features than the old Teams.

Plus, Microsoft is making it the default Teams client for desktops. Truth is, the new Teams is very capable of easing interaction and allowing for better workflows. Copilot will be coming to it in November, together with Microsoft 365 Chat, a new AI assistant similar to Bing Chat, but for work.

And Microsoft doesn’t stop here. Teams will be getting a simplified compose box that will contain many shortcuts, including a Copilot shortcut. The new box will be coming to the platform at the end of the year, in December, according to the Microsoft 365 Roadmap.

The Redmond-based tech giant is planning to add a lot of new features to Teams, such as the ability to quickly catch up with the subject of a missed call by pressing a new button that Microsoft will add to the platform in November.

So, will this box also contain the new button? We’ll have to wait until December to see, but most likely Microsoft might add it there, as well.

What will the simplified compose box be able to do in Microsoft Teams?

According to Microsoft, the simplified compose box will make it easier for Teams users to create and send messages to their peers on the platform.

The box will also contain a list of actionable options such as editing a message, inserting an Emoji, or even calling up Copilot to help create or improve messages. Plus, it seems that the box will also contain a plus button, which will offer more options to choose from. teams simplified compose box

It’s not yet clear how this simplified compose box will exist in Microsoft Teams, but users might be able to drag it along with them wherever they go in Microsoft Teams.

However, we will have to wait and see. The feature will be released on desktop platforms, and the entry in the roadmap does not mention a mobile version. So it’s safe to say that the simplified compose box will only be available to desktop platforms, at first.
