Xbox Controller S

The classic Xbox Controller S is coming back for Xbox Series S, X, and Windows 10/11 in a revamped version that will include both the classic Xbox buttons, and the modern ones, such as the Hall effect sticks and triggers, and the share button specifically built for the Series consoles.

According to The Verge, which first reported on this story, the accessories manufacturer Hyperkin is responsible for bringing back the modern version of the beloved Xbox controller. However, there isn’t any official release date yet.

Instead, the company released two mockup pictures of what these controllers would look like eventually. Still, we have to mention the fact that they will be the subject of changes, and the final product might look different, although not much.

Hyperkin is known for taking classic Xbox controllers and revamping them for modern Xbox consoles. In 2018, the company released a modern version of the Duke controller, and in 2023, the Xbox 360 controller was also the subject of a modern reinvigoration. So, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that the company is bringing back another classic Xbox controller.

Here’s what we know about the new Xbox Controller S so far

We don’t have many details so far, as the company has chosen not to share too much information, but we have some specific info about the new Xbox Controller S.

The controller will be released in two colors: the black version, and the white version, as you can see in the image below.Xbox Controller S

Keep in mind that these images are mockups so the final product might be slightly different.

As for the buttons and triggers, the new Xbox Controller S will reportedly have Hall effect sticks and triggers, a share button built in for Series consoles, a USB-C port, and a 3.5mm headset jack.

It will also support Windows 10, and Windows 11 devices, so it can be used for PC gaming sessions, as well.

When it comes to a release date or price, we don’t have any information regarding them, but we should expect them to be released later this year, probably at the end of the year.

However, if you’re looking to add some great Xbox controllers to your collection, you might want to try these ones: you could go with the recently released Gold Shadow Xbox controller, which looks gorgeous. Or, if you prefer RGB lights on your controller, this one will definitely be something you might enjoy playing on.
