The next Halo game is in the works and it might come sooner than we expected

A new Halo game, most possibly Halo 7, is definitely in the works, and it might be released sooner than we expected. Xbox enthusiast, @IdleSloth84_, has shared an interesting X post (formerly known as Twitter), detailing 343 Industries’ Art Director and Senior Character System Designer LinkedIn profiles, where they mention that they’re working on Halo’s next unannounced release.
There are a few clues about the next Halo game: according to the LinkedIn profile, Justin Dinges, 343 Industries’ Art Director, has been working on it since April 2022, and Ian Slutz, the Senior Character System Designer, mentions in his LinkedIn profile that the team could be using Unreal Engine 5 to bring the next Halo game to life.
It’s safe to say that 343 Industries has been working on this game for quite a while, and we might probably get a glimpse of the next Halo game sometime this year.
If you remember, we covered a story last year, about the Halo franchise roadmap, and back in June 2023, we found out that Microsoft (together with 343 Industries) is planning on remaking the first game, Halo: Combat Evolved, for the current generation of Xbox consoles.
Back then, the huge roadmap for Halo was revealed by the Xbox CEO Phil Spencer and Xbox Game Studios head Matt Booty on a Giant Bomb live stream on all things Xbox.

What’s next for Halo? Halo 7, Halo: Combat Evolved Remake?
While Halo: Combat Evolved Remake might upset some Halo fans waiting for a new title in the franchise, the idea is quite good.
As many other classic games are getting remakes, including Resident Evil, or Silent Hill 2, for instance, a remake of the cult Halo: Combat Evolved might be the perfect chance to reintroduce the franchise to newer generations.
Besides, a remake of the original game would lay the ground for the new title, supposedly Halo 7 (but it is yet to be confirmed), which could be a boost for sales.
We know for sure that Halo 7 will use the Unreal Engine 5, which is a good thing. The Unreal Engine 5 is known for being a strong and capable engine, and it’s usually used to develop hyper-realistic video games.
According to the LinkedIn profiles, development for Halo’s next unannounced release has started in 2022, so by 2024, 343 Industries should give us a glimpse at what they’ve been working on. The roadmap for Xbox, which is the native console for the Halo games, hints at a possible release beyond 2024. So we’re thinking 2025, or 2026.
However, 2024 is going to be the year we will know where Halo is heading next.
