Ubisoft Rolls Back Rainbow Six Siege Servers After Massive Hack Over The Weekend

If you are Rainbow Six Siege fan, you must be aware of the major issue many players faced over the weekend. Ubisoft, as a result, shut down all the servers following a widespread in-game hack. For the uninitiated, the incident was first reported on Saturday morning. Players reported seeing suspicious R6 credits, ultra-rare weapon skins, and unexpected bans/unbans on several accounts.

The issue wasn’t limited to just one platform, as players across PC, PlayStation, and Xbox reported the issue. Ubisoft, however, did its part and resolved the issue. If you are among those unaware, you must be wondering, what’s all this about, right?

Well, according to official post on X (formerly Twitter), Ubisoft acknowledged the issue in the early hours of Saturday, noting that it was “aware of an incident currently affecting Rainbow Six Siege” and was “working on a resolution.” The company shut down all Rainbow Six Siege servers as the team investigated the unusual account activity.

As mentioned earlier, players reported seeing zero or billions of R6 credits, while some had rare skins suddenly appear in their inventories. Others experienced account bans or, in some cases, unexpected unbans. Ubisoft quickly clarified that players wouldn’t face bans if they spent the incorrectly credited amounts. Despite this assurance, the company emphasized that corrective measures would be required to restore account integrity.

To address the issue, Ubisoft has initiated a rollback of all transactions starting from Saturday, December 27, 6 AM ET. “Extensive quality control tests will be executed to ensure the integrity of accounts and effectiveness of changes,” Ubisoft explained, highlighting the complexity of the process. The company also noted that timing for restoring servers remains uncertain, emphasizing that the matter is being handled with “extreme care.”

As of Sunday afternoon, the official status page still shows “unplanned outage” for all platforms, while Ubisoft continues monitoring the situation. The Marketplace remains offline. Meaning, anyone trying to purchase in-game content will hit the wall until the rollback is complete.

While Ubisoft works to restore normal operations, Rainbow Six Siege players will have to wait patiently as the company ensures accounts are corrected without causing further issues. It’s best that you avoid spending suspiciously altered credits and to follow official Ubisoft channels for updates. Once the rollback and quality control checks are complete, servers are expected to return to normal operation. However, it’s unclear when will that happen; if it does, we’ll let you know.
