Valve Officially Ends Production of Its Cheapest Steam Deck

If you are mulling over the idea of buying a brand new LCD Steam Deck (the cheapest of all), you should act now. That’s because Valve has quietly stopped production of its cheapest Steam Deck.

If you visit the Steam Deck store page right now, you’ll see a notice that confirms the 256GB LCD Steam Deck is no longer in production and will disappear once remaining stock is gone.

In the U.S., that appears to have already happened because the model has been showing as out of stock for weeks now. Valve, however, notes existing LCD units will continue to receive full support, and refurbished models could return at some point if inventory allows.

For those unaware, Valve recently dropped the price of the LCD model, with a new pricing set for $320. Since launching in 2021, Valve kept the $399 price intact, even after upgrading the base storage from 64GB eMMC to 256GB NVMe.

With the LCD version gone, the Steam Deck OLED now becomes the starting point for new buyers. That’s a clear shift in Valve’s hardware strategy. The company is no longer chasing the lowest possible price, and wants to lean more premium Steam Deck lineup.

Earlier this year, Valve unveiled the new Steam Frame VR Headset, Steam Machine, and the next-gen Steam Controller. In case you haven’t picked up your favorite games on discount, the Steam Winter 2025 Sale is now live.
