windows 11 wls improvements

WSL is a big part of Windows because it allows you to run Linux distros inside it, without having to use virtual machines.

This is incredibly useful to developers, and if you use WSL, managing distros will get better in the future.

Windows 11 will get better distro management in WSL soon

We saw all sorts of improvements at the Build event, and new Surface laptops were the stars of the show alongside Copilot + PC computing.

With all AI announcements, many have missed many upcoming features, such as improved WSL management.

This isn’t anything new, as we knew for some time that WSL is getting GUI support, but this was the first time it was shown in action as Windows Central writes.

Microsoft’s Kayla Cinnamon tweeted that WSL will have better integration with Windows.

This includes the dedicated settings app, the ability to manage distros through the Dev Home app, as well the ability to install WSL through winget which will make deploying easier.

These are welcome additions, and having a dedicated settings application will make the management of distros easier for first-time users without having to use the command line.

Overall, these are some great improvements, and we can’t wait to see them in action.
