teams town hall reaction

Microsoft has the made Town Hall platform inside Microsoft Teams the go-to platform for live-streaming meetings, ever since it retired its Microsoft Stream live events platform at the end of January. The Town Hall platform can be used to host events with 20k to 30k participants, and organizations are recommended to use it for their events, webinars, and so on.

As with any Teams platform, the Town Hall is also getting plenty of updates, and according to Microsoft 356 Roadmap, April will see the release of the reaction feature to the platform.

Those attending Town Hall meetings will be able to use a variety of reactions to express themselves or express an opinion, as these reactions will appear on the side of the screen, as the roadmap describes:

Participants can use reactions (like, love, applause, laugh, surprised) to express themselves during a town hall and the reactions appear as a continuous stream on the side of the screen.

Bottom line: use these reactions at your own risk, especially in company video calls, or company events, or whatever company meetings you’ll have.

Why? Because everyone will be able to see your reactions, so just make sure to double, and even triple check you selected the right reaction. (You know, maybe don’t react with a sad face to a very exciting news!)

Actually, you might not want to react at all, but if you do, make sure the reactions are appropriate to the situation or topic.

The feature will be available to all platforms, including Desktop, Mac, Android, and iOS, so if you’re attending Town Hall company calls from a mobile phone, be extra careful – you never know when the device will betray your thoughts.

All jokes aside, the new reaction feature coming to Teams’ Town Hall could be a great way to leave feedback for meetings and engage with others, as well.
