YouTube Finally Cracks Down on AI Slop Channels With Millions of Subscribers
YouTube has been a home of AI-generated content for a while now. Low-effort videos, recycled scripts, synthetic voices, and endless “brainrot” loops have spread across the platform, often pulling in massive views. For many creators, it felt like real content was getting buried under an algorithm-friendly flood of AI slop. Now, YouTube appears to be finally taking some strict action.
YouTube deletes some popular channels in its first major crackdown against AI slop so far
As reported by Dexerto, YouTube has deleted several of the most popular AI slop channels, marking one of its biggest crackdowns so far. The crackdown was spotted by Kapwing, which says at least 16 major AI-driven channels were affected.
Kapwing previously warned that AI slop was on track to drown out real creators and said YouTube now needs to maintain momentum, not just remove a handful of channels. According to the report, 11 channels were completely deleted, while five others had all their videos wiped. Combined, those channels had amassed around 4.72 billion views and more than 35 million subscribers. That’s not a small cleanup.

Some of the biggest names didn’t survive. CuentosFacianantes and Imperiodejesus, widely considered two of the most prominent AI slop channels, are now gone. Brainrotjourney, which had over 1.6 million subscribers, has also been removed from the platform.
This move lines up with recent comments from YouTube CEO Neal Mohan. Facing growing backlash from users and creators, Mohan said YouTube plans to seriously tackle low-quality AI content starting in 2026. He explained that the company is expanding systems already used to fight spam and clickbait, with a focus on repetitive, low-value AI uploads.
AI isn’t going anywhere on YouTube. Even Mohan has admitted that much. But with billions of views wiped overnight, this looks like YouTube is done letting AI slop run wild.
