Windows 11 May Soon Bring Rounded Corners to File Explorer’s Address & Search Bars

Windows 11, when it launched back in 2021, introduced a revamped user interface, with rounded corners becoming one of its most recognizable visual traits. However, not every part of the operating system fully adopted that style. File Explorer, one of the most frequently used apps in Windows 11, is one of them.

However, Microsoft appears to be working on that front. According to findings shared by well-known Windows tipster PhantomOfEarth, recent Windows 11 preview builds include an updated design for File Explorer’s address bar and search bar (via Windows Latest). The design tweak introduces noticeably more rounded corners, as seen below.

Interestingly, the feature remains hidden in current preview builds and is disabled by default. Because of that, Microsoft has not officially announced the change yet, and it remains unclear when the company plans to roll it out to users more broadly.

While the adjustment may appear minor, File Explorer plays a key role in everyday Windows use. Even small design changes in such a widely used component can noticeably improve the overall experience.

Speaking of changes, let’s not forget that Microsoft has delayed the release of the “new” Windows 11 Agenda View. The company reportedly said that it is actively improving the foundational aspects of the experience to meet quality standards before public preview, which is now expected to roll out to Windows Insiders in the “coming months.”
