Wondering About Fortnite Server Status? It’s Down Now for Chapter 7 Season 4 Override Update
Fortnite server has gone down currently as Epic prepares Chapter 7 Season 4. Matchmaking was disabled before the scheduled maintenance, leaving players staring at matchmaking errors instead of jumping into matches.
Epic confirms Fortnite downtime for the v42.00 update
The downtime started around 2 a.m. ET on August 20. Epic is rolling out the v42.00 update, which launches Chapter 7 Season 4, titled Override. Matchmaking was disabled roughly 30 minutes before the servers went offline. That means players could still access parts of the game before matchmaking was shut down.
The update brings a new season with map changes, fresh weapons, new gameplay elements, Sprites, and a new Battle Pass. The outage therefore appears to be scheduled maintenance, rather than an unexpected Fortnite server failure.
When will Fortnite servers be back?
Epic is expected to keep the Fortnite servers down for roughly four to six hours. It means servers might be back online between 6 a.m. and 8 a.m. ET, although Epic can extend maintenance if needed.
Players seeing matchmaking errors during this period do not need to reinstall Fortnite. The service is unavailable because Epic is completing the seasonal update. Once servers return, players should restart Fortnite and allow the v42.00 update to finish downloading. If matchmaking errors continue afterward, restarting the game and launcher is a sensible first step.
