Windows 11 26H1 Future Platforms Experimental Build Fixes Mouse Cursor Issues

Windows 11 Insider Experimental Preview Build 29661.1000 is now available to Insiders testing Microsoft’s Future Platforms branch.

Microsoft released Windows 11 Insider Experimental (Future Platforms) Preview Build 29661.1000 with a small set of general improvements and fixes.

IAKerb is now enabled by default

The biggest change in this build is that Microsoft has enabled IAKerb by default on Windows client devices.

IAKerb is a Kerberos extension that helps Windows authenticate users when a device cannot connect directly to a domain controller. It allows authentication to continue in situations where traditional Kerberos authentication isn’t available.

Microsoft says enabling IAKerb can reduce Windows’ reliance on NTLM while improving support for modern authentication scenarios.

The change should particularly matter in environments where network conditions or infrastructure prevent devices from communicating directly with a domain controller.

Microsoft fixes several mouse cursor problems

Preview Build 29661.1000 also addresses multiple mouse and input issues reported by Windows Insiders.

Microsoft fixed a bug that caused the mouse cursor to repeatedly blink on some systems. Another issue could make the cursor disappear entirely inside certain applications.

The company also corrected a problem where changing the mouse pointer speed setting didn’t work as expected.

Windows Update error 0x80070005 gets a fix

Microsoft also fixed a Windows Update problem that prevented some Insiders from installing newer Windows builds.

Affected users encountered error 0x80070005 while attempting to update. Preview Build 29661.1000 should allow those systems to continue receiving newer Insider builds normally.

Microsoft also rolled out its latest monthly updates, including the Windows 10 KB5122878 September 2026 Patch Tuesday update.
