A new rumor suggests ASUS could unveil a next-generation gaming handheld during Computex 2026, as VideoCardz writes. The claim comes from German handheld-focused YouTuber Steam Dad, who recently hinted that viewers should keep an eye on the event for possible ASUS hardware news.

The report is still unofficial, and ASUS has not confirmed any new handheld products yet. Even so, the timing has attracted attention because Computex 2026 takes place in Taipei from June 2 to June 5, matching the timeframe Steam Dad referenced in his comments.

Rumors point to a possible Computex reveal

Steam Dad said he could not share details yet, but strongly hinted that ASUS may present a new handheld during the show. He also suggested more information could likely be discussed in around two weeks, which lines up closely with Computex.

His wording led many viewers to speculate that he may know early information under embargo. However, he did not confirm any technical details or product names.

At this stage, there is still no information about the chipset, display size, battery, pricing, or release window. It also remains unclear whether ASUS is preparing a completely new ROG Ally, an XBOX-branded version, or a smaller refresh of the current hardware.

Intel’s handheld plans add more questions

Part of the speculation comes from Intel’s expected handheld announcements at Computex. The company is reportedly preparing to showcase Arc G3 handheld chips after recently acknowledging the platform publicly.

However, ASUS was not listed among the official launch partners connected to those chips. That has created uncertainty around what hardware ASUS may actually use if a new handheld appears at the event.

Some observers believe the device could end up being more of a mid-generation refresh instead of a full successor.

ASUS continues updating the ROG Ally ecosystem

Even without new hardware announcements, ASUS has continued improving its handheld ecosystem. More games recently joined the default profile list for the ROG XBOX Ally experience, while a newer update also introduced docking improvements and additional fixes.

Those continued updates make the Computex rumor feel more believable as competition in the handheld gaming market keeps growing.

For now, though, ASUS has not officially announced anything. Computex 2026 should clarify whether the company is preparing a major handheld upgrade or a smaller refresh.
