Copilot Clipchamp

Clipchamp is about to become the world’s most affordable and used video editing platform, as Microsoft is enhancing it with… that’s right, you guessed it, AI. Well, Copilot, but it’s still AI.

According to the latest entry in the Microsoft 365 Roadmap, the Redmond-based tech giant is adding AI-based video drafting in both Microsoft Copilot and Clipchamp. With it, users will be able to type in a prompt describing what video they want to make, and Clipchamp will write a script, search for high-quality stock footage, and assemble a video project with music, voiceovers, text, and even transitions.

You can take that video project draft and continue working on it in the Clipchamp app when it is done. Microsoft says this feature will be of great use to all those seeking to generate and create informational videos, video messaging, how-to videos, demos, and even presentations.

Here’s what the entry says:

Clipchamp brings video creation skills to Copilot. Type your prompt and Clipchamp will write a bespoke script, source high quality stock footage, and assemble a video project with music, voiceover, text overlays and transitions. Open your video project draft in the Clipchamp app to continue to edit, export, and share. This feature is great for informational videos, video messaging, how-to videos, demos, and video presentations.

The feature is set to be released in September, and it could be the one that makes Clipchamp and Copilot popular among regular users. As Microsoft describes it, it gives users everything they need to create a video from nothing, and they don’t have to have any expertise regarding the creation of it.

This is not the first time Microsoft has enhanced Clipchamp with AI features: earlier this year, the platform was enhanced with the tech to help users quickly remove background noise from videos.
