Opera GX is the most popular browser for gamers but many of them want to disable the Opera GX splash screen intro. Although the animation and sound are pretty cool, it takes 2 seconds away from you and your browser so let’s see how we can get rid of it.
How do I disable the splash screen on Opera GX?
1. Disable the splash screen from Opera GX settings
- Open Opera GX and press Alt + P to open Settings, or click the menu button and select it from there.
- Type splash into the search box from the top left corner and turn off the Splash screen on startup feature from the right.
- Restart the browser and you should not see the Opera GX splash screen intro anymore.
There have been some issues with disabling the Splash screen on startup in the previous versions of Opera GX. However, if you update the browser to the latest version first, you shouldn’t encounter this problem anymore.
2. Rename or delete the splash screen file
- Open Opera GX, type or paste Opera:about in the address bar and press Enter.
- Take down the Opera GX install path.
- Press Win + E to open File Explorer and navigate to the install folder.
- From there, access the latest version folder of the browser.
- Now, locate the opera_gx_splash.exe and rename or delete it. You may also simply move it in another location on your PC.
Deleting or renaming the intro animation may be a bit excessive, but it works, nevertheless. However, you should be able to remove the Opera GX splash screen from the browser’s settings without any issues.
Of course, that way you can always reenable it at any point in time.
