ERROR_FLOPPY_VOLUME comes with the following message: 584 (0x248) The paging file cannot be created on a floppy diskette. It occurs when you try to save a paging file on a floppy disk, and in today’s guide, we’re going to show you how to fix this.
How can I fix ERROR_FLOPPY_VOLUME?
1. Adjust your paging settings
- Press the Windows key + S and type advanced. Choose View advanced system settings.
- Next, click on the Settings button in the Performance section.
- After that, go to the Advanced tab and click on Change.
- Next, ensure that the paging feature isn’t available for your floppy drive.
2. Disable the floppy drive
- Press the Windows key + X and choose Device Manager.
- Locate the floppy drive on the list, right-click it, and choose Disable device.
- Optional: Restart your PC and enter BIOS. You can do that with Del or F2 key.
- Once in BIOS, locate floppy drive settings and disable it.
3. Check your drive settings
- Press the Windows key + X and choose Disk Management.
- Look for the floppy drive on the list.
- If it’s available, remove it.
ERROR_FLOPPY_VOLUME isn’t a common error, especially since floppy drives aren’t used anymore, and you’ll likely encounter it while using virtual machines.
If you’re using a virtual machine, check your configuration and remove the floppy drive so it doesn’t interfere with your configuration.
While floppy drives aren’t used anymore, you can still encounter errors such as ERROR_FLOPPY_UNKNOWN_ERROR or FLOPPY_INTERNAL_ERROR, but we have separate guides addressing these issues.
