How do I fix the Failed to find Steam error?

1. Use the Steam.dll file

  1. Open This PC.
  2. Open C:\Program Files (x86)
  3. Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam
  4. Double click on the Steam folder.
  5. Copy Steam.dll from the Steam folder.
  6. Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\game name
  7. Paste Steam.dll into C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\game name

2. Modify the Path environmental variable

  1. Open Start and type advanced system settings.
  2. Now select View advanced system settings.
  3. Click the button for Environment Variables.
  4. Go to System Variables.
  5. Search for Path in System Variables.
  6. Click on Path
  7. Choose Edit.

  8. From there, select Variable Value.
  9. Put the cursor on it and press End key.
  10. In Variable Value press the ; key.
  11. Paste the path to Steam there.
  12. Press OK.

Adding the semicolon represented by the ; key will separate your entry from the others. Your path to Steam should be C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam

After doing that, check if the Failed to find Steam error is gone.


3. Verify game cache

  1. Load the Steam application.
  2. Visit the Library section.
  3. Right-click on the game icon.
  4. Click on Properties.
  5. Navigate to Local Files.
  6. Click on Verify integrity of game files.
