Dragon’s Dogma 2 has become an instant hit, breaking records within hours of release, be it on Steam, Xbox, or PlayStation. However, the game appears to have some bugs and performance issues. The good news, users have found a way to fix the lag, slow loading and FPS drop in Dragon’s Dogma 2.
The trick is to get rid of NPC (Non-player characters) because, as it turns out, these hog up the CPU and drastically reduce the performance.
After doing this, players have reported an immediate increase in FPS in the 15-30 range.
On the other hand, concerns have been raised about this approach, given that getting rid of NPCs also means reduced content. So, are you willing to compromise on that?

Since the way NPCs are handled is theorized to be very taxing on your CPU, killing off NPCs should boost your performance. However, what’s the point of killing off NPCs to boost your frame rate if you’re also killing content.
Since this is a new hack, players have gone all in. We have seen cases where players wiped out NPCs from entire towns in a bid to improve the FPS. Though the game’s performance was optimized, such drastic measures will affect the experience. So, try to find the perfect balance!
Besides, you won’t have to do this to fix Dragon’s Dogma 2 lag for long. Developers are already working on patches and will soon release them on all three platforms: Xbox, PlayStation, and Steam.
Basically, you have two options. Either wait for a patch or find a list of NPCs that can be cleared without affecting the game’s storyline and content. Several players are working on such a list, so it won’t be difficult to find one!
For Steam users, optimizing the OS settings for improved performance will help boost the gameplay.
