Google Launches Lyria 3 in Gemini, Letting Users Generate Songs in Seconds
Google continues to expand Gemini’s capabilities after rolling out anti-scam protection in Chrome and Personal Intelligence in AI Search Mode. Now, the company is introducing generative music powered by its new Lyria 3 model.
Lyria 3 is now available as a beta feature inside the Gemini app. The tool allows users to generate original music tracks in seconds using simple prompts.
Create songs from text, images, or videos with Lyria 3
Lyria 3 can turn text prompts, images, or even short video clips into music. Users can adjust vocals, tempo, and musical style without manually writing lyrics.
Currently, tracks are limited to 30 seconds. However, Google positions the feature as a tool for creative expression rather than a replacement for professional musicians.
Each generated track includes custom cover art created by Nano Banana. The music is also embedded with SynthID, Google’s watermarking technology designed to identify AI-generated content.
Built for originality, but not without risks
Google has tested Lyria for several years before launching this public beta. The company says the model broadly mimics artistic styles instead of copying specific artists.
Still, Google admits the system is not entirely foolproof. Copyright complaints could still arise despite safeguards.
Lyria 3 is already integrated into YouTube Shorts through Dream Track. The standalone Gemini rollout is currently live on desktop, with mobile support coming soon.
Who can access Lyria 3?
The feature is available to users aged 18 and older. It supports multiple languages, including English, German, Spanish, French, Hindi, Japanese, Korean, and Portuguese.
The expansion into music signals Google’s ambition to position Gemini as a full creative AI suite, not just a productivity assistant.
In other AI developments, reports suggest threat actors are experimenting with Gemini for cyberattack automation, raising new concerns about misuse as AI tools grow more powerful.
